Virgin Money London Marathon

LDN Brunch Club Origination

February 6, 2018

This year’s Virgin Money London Marathon will be Stephen Adjaidoo’s, the founder of the LDN Brunch Club, 10th marathon to date!

Why I setup LDN Brunch Club

LDN Brunch Club was initially started in the summer of 2014, as a group of friends training for half marathons and marathons got together each week to run and socialise with a post-run brunch.

The diverse community of like-minded people grew steadily over a number of months, with the vast majority of people joining the crew being from outside London; either other parts of the UK or from other parts of the world.

Nearly four years on, we now have a club membership, partnerships with a number of restaurants and organisations across London and a fast growing social media following. We’ve been fortunate enough to work with most of the biggest running/fitness brands around and have seen representation from the club in races far and wide from Tokyo to Toronto, Berlin to Barcelona.

Through qualified running coaches, personal trainers and run leaders, the club supports all levels of endurance runner from first time marathoners to those chasing the revered Boston qualifiers.

Between February and April, six LDN Brunch Club runs will be taking place at Holiday Inn properties throughout London. Our upcoming events with Holiday Inn will be:

07 February – Holiday Inn London Oxford Street

21 February – Holiday Inn London Camden Lock

03 March – Holiday Inn London Stratford City

14 March – Holiday Inn London Kensington High Street

04 April – Holiday Inn London Kensington High Street

18 April – Holiday Inn London Camden Lock

Running together in a group

We find having our regular members club run makes people more motivated, accountable and consistent with training. There are obvious links between consistency of training and improvements in performance but running in a group also enhances the experience and gives a sense of companionship. We find a lot of people in our community originally came to London for work and generally move here without knowing very many people so our community offers a real sense of community which can be difficult to find elsewhere.

The support and encouragement from the community is a key factor of why so many of our original members are still running with us today.

Spread the love
